1. Prepare your setup
Confirm your home Wi-Fi is working — check you can connect on your phone or tablet.
- Use a tablet or laptop for the setup steps — easier than a phone
- If you changed internet providers, modem, Wi-Fi name, or password, you’ll need to re-enter those details
2. Activate the inverter’s Wi-Fi access point
On the inverter display, press Back or Menu to open Setup.
- Navigate to Setup → Wi-Fi Access Point → Activate
- The inverter will broadcast a hotspot starting with FRONIUS_240
- Default Wi-Fi password is 12345678 — check your inverter label or ask your installer if this doesn’t work.
3. Connect your device to the inverter’s hotspot
Open Wi-Fi settings on your device and connect to FRONIUS_240.XXXXXX.
- Enter the password 12345678 (or your unique password)
4. Open the inverter’s web interface

- Contact your installer if you don’t know the password
5. Enter your home Wi-Fi details
Go to Settings → Network (or Communication → Network on some models).
- Scroll to the bottom and select your home Wi-Fi network
- Press Set, enter your Wi-Fi password, then click Save or Apply
Confirm the new settings when prompted
6. Verify the connection

GEN24 / GEN24 Plus series
IP address: 192.168.250.181
Hotspot name: FRONIUS_3xxxxxxx
Default password: 12345678
1. Check Wi-Fi signal at the inverter
Stand near the inverter and use your phone to check if your home Wi-Fi network is visible.
- If you can’t see your network from here, the signal is too weak — install an extender or move the router closer before continuing
2. Try a power cycle first
If your internet details haven’t changed, a restart often resolves the issue without reprogramming.
- Turn AC off via the main switch or solar inverter breaker
- Turn DC off via the isolator next to the inverter
- Wait for full shutdown, then switch DC back on, then AC
- A solid blue light after restart means Wi-Fi reconnected — you’re done. Only continue if the light is not solid blue
3. Activate the inverter’s Wi-Fi access point
Press and hold the middle button on the inverter until the Wi-Fi indicator light begins flashing.
- This activates the inverter’s internal hotspot
4. Connect your device to the inverter’s hotspot
Open Wi-Fi settings and connect to FRONIUS_240.XXXXXX using password 12345678.
- Wait until your phone shows a tick or “connected” before continuing
5. Open the inverter’s web interface
In Chrome or Safari, go to 192.168.250.181
- The local interface loads with system bubbles and live data
6. Log in to communication settings
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top right corner, then go to Communication.
- Select Customer as the login role
- Enter your customer password — provided by your installer after installation
7. Enter your home Wi-Fi details
Open the menu again and select Network → Wi-Fi.
- Keep your phone connected to the Fronius hotspot while doing this
- Your available home Wi-Fi networks will appear — tap yours
- Enter your Wi-Fi password and save
- The inverter switches over to your home network automatically
8. Confirm the connection
Check the indicator light on the inverter.
- Solid blue = connected successfully
- Flashing = still trying — wait a moment and check again
- You can also verify on Fronius Solar.web — live system data should be updating
9. Troubleshooting
- No Wi-Fi signal detected — use an extender or connect via Ethernet
- Double-check the password — it’s case-sensitive
- Connection failed — restart the inverter and repeat from step 3
- Ongoing issues — contact your installer or Fronius Support
