Federal Solar Battery Rebate Fast Facts.

When & What.

Batteries installed between now and July 1, 2025, will be eligible for the rebate, though they cannot be switched on until July 1.
Eligible battery systems range from 5kWh to 50kWh usable capacity, but systems up to 100kWh can be installed.
Batteries must be VPP-capable (Virtual Power Plant), though participation in a VPP is not required.

Rebate & Benefit.

The subsidy is approximately $372 per kilowatt hour of usable capacity (theoretical maximum), minus any admin fees or charges. Like the SRES solar rebate, this amount will decrease over time.
Owners of existing battery systems can install an additional system and still qualify.

Rebates & Limits.

You can “double-dip” -this federal rebate can be combined with existing state battery incentives.
For owners of multiple properties, a system can be installed at each location.
The scheme is uncapped, meaning there’s no limit on the number of subsidies available but the value will decrease over time and also with increased demand.
